Fun Times in Palm Springs

I took this pic during one of the Follies Acts. Not supossed to take pics but I like living on the edge. The show was fantastic!
One of the neat things about The Palm Springs Follies is the age of the performers. The youngest is 55, the oldest 84!!!! And can she still dance! Here is one of the dancers. She's 64. No kidding!
Really showing my age here I guess, Here is a pic of three of the singing group THE FOUR ACES. They were part of the Follies Show. Remember the song Three Coins in the Fountain? Probably not. Anyway they were just great as was the Follies. The grey hair guy is the only original.

Remember THE GUESS WHO? The guy on the left is Jim Kayle. The guy on the right Gary Peterson, both original members of that famous group who played along with Blood Sweat & Tears at a concert Kathy and I attended in Palm Springs. Awesome show!

Grand Parents Again!!!

On one end of the room the audience. On the other.....Tibby and crew watching the monitors prior to the decision that a natural birth would not be happening. Caylene gave birth to Kai Alexsis Megale at about 7 PM on February 18th. Baby girl 7.3 pounds by "C" section. Baby and Mom are just fine. That's number four Grand Kids for Kathy and I in under three years. Kai's arrival made number 6 for me! Here are a few pics to show the new citizen of planet earth. Sadly Baby Kai still had not yet been cleaned up when these were taken.

Little Ricky Turns SIXTY-ONE

January 30th saw Little Ricky turn 61. The event took place at our place in California. Never one to miss an opportunity to have a party Kathy threw me one to remember. The guest list included our new friend Shirley McGill, our dog, cat, Kathy of course, and me the birthday boy. Wonderful steak diner, birthday cake and yup.....a few drinks. We were in bed at about 8:30. Pretty damn late for a guy 61. But hey it was my birthday.

First Desert Shots

Not a desert shot.....But I came across this restored CHRYSLER. I think it's in the late 50's vintage. 57? 58 or 59 maybe....A beauty. Palm Springs area has many restored cars.
We have a terrific view of this mountain from our front pourch. And you can see cactus everywhere
Desert cactus everywhere. Apparently with the rare rains that have fallen here this winter the cactus and other desert flowers will likely in bloom this March. I am really looking forward to the photo opps that will then present themselves.
One of the great things about the desert is the ability to take very interesting walks. Kathy takes Rose for a walk every morning. These pics were taken obviously on one of these walks. Yes, it was the first and only one so far I have gone with Kathy and our mutt. Why? Kathy likes to head off before 7 AM. A bit early for me! You can see our resort in the distance.

The Girls "R" back in town!

Little Ricky had a treat last Saturday. Got to take this "pack" of girls to diner at a place called The Nest here in Palm Springs. Far left is Sabrina. Next to her Gail Watts. Sabrina Gail and their husbands bought a place down here. Next to Gail is their friend Tracy down for a visit. Next to Kathy is our friend Penny who also with husband Bob just bought a place here. The Nest is a bar which seems to cater to 50 plus clientèle. The dance floor was packed. A hoot to see so many "cougars" and men strutting their stuff!

New Year's Eve 2007

This picture is of me with one of the most wonderful gifts I have ever received. As you all know I have played the drums in many bands for many years. Barry & Sylvia Daws know this and the evening prior to our departure for California had Kathy and I over for dinner. They gave me this gift which this picture does not due justice. I don't even want to think what it cost. I was and still am in shock of the Daws doing this because they will not be with us on Jan 30th which is my 61st B'Day. It is and will continue to be on display in a prominant place in our home. Thanks once again you guys............YOU ROCK!

We spent NY Eve at Black Mountain where we attended the NY Eve Dance. at about 3AM we were still partying with our friends Doug & Barb Molloy. Note the snow but we had a fire going so it was great.

First Post of 2008

Wow, January 2008 and it's half over. We're in sunny California now and lovin it! But boy did we have snow this year back home. Here are a couple of pictures to prove just that. The pictures above is the bird house we have in our back yard at Black Mountain Ranch and a picture of the Valley and Nooksack River also viewed from our backyard. Looks like over 12 inches to me.

For the past 15 years or so we have journeyed to The Keg restaurant with The Molloy Family to enjoy a Christmas Eve dinner. Here is a picture of Caylene and Aidan. Yup Caylene is getting pretty BIG!!!! She is expectting her second child in Mid February 2008.

As most of you know I have been playing the drums in various bands since I was a teen. It's now time for the Grand Kids to learn so Kathy and I bought them both a junior drum set for Christmas. You can imagine how pleased their parents are!
